Buffalo Grove is a village in Cook and Lake counties in the U.S. state of Illinois, within the northern suburbs of Chicago. As of the 2010 census, the village population was 41,496. Buffalo Grove has been one of the fastest growing communities in the Northwest suburbs since its incorporation in 1958, when on March 27, the first village officials were elected.
Unlike many other suburban communities which exhibit the problems and characteristics of rapid urbanization, Buffalo Grove has retained the characteristics which attracted its earliest residents. It remains a community of tree-lined streets, well-maintained homes, neighbors, and neighborhoods.
Buffalo Grove provides both the amenities of a country atmosphere and the convenient access to the cultural, entertainment, and business centers of Chicago. Buffalo Grove was included as one of “Fifty Fabulous Places to Raise Your Family” in a nationally published book by that title.
