The Village of Hawthorn Woods was recently named the #1 Safest City in Illinois by SafeWise, a nationally-recognized security organization that helps families and communities stay educated about safety and security. Ranked against 298 cities in Illinois, SafeWise considered public safety initiatives and the most recent FBI crime data from 2013.
This is not the first award Hawthorn Woods has received, including being named in the top five Safest and Most Peaceful Cities in Illinois by “Only In Your State” (August 2015), the #1 Safest Place in Illinois by Value Penguin (April 2015), and recognized in the Top 10 Safest Cities in Illinois by Movoto Blog. The Village continues to model excellence in the Lake County area through its impressive low crime index, proactive police force, and local amenities.
