Cleaning – Make It Easier On Yourself

Whether you’re selling or not, keeping a clean home is key.  When you’re selling it becomes twice as important.  Between open houses and showings to staging and pictures, the place your living in is the product your selling.  If you want a potential buyer to make an offer then it has to be immaculate.   When you see a shirt in the store with a stain, you don’t expect to pay full price for it.  The same thing is true when your house is on the market.  Use these tips to make your home clean and smelling great.

  • Use Borax and water and mix into a paste to remove mold or mildew from the shower. Scrub and let sit for at least 30 minutes before rinsing.
  • Grind up half a lemon in your garbage disposal to remove bad odors and make it smell good.
  • A paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide makes scrubbing the stove easier.
  • Fill up your washing machine with water and pour two cups of vinegar inside to get all your laundry cleaner. Let it sit for a few hours or overnight, and the sediment that’s settled into your washer will be gone.
  • Microwaving a bowl of water for five minutes will steam it up and caked-on stuff will wipe away easily.
  • Use a pillowcase to clean ceiling fan blades. The dust gets trapped inside instead of being spread around the room.
  • Put socks on your hands to easily wipe dust and dirt off your blinds.  If you’re looking for a way to engage your kids in some cleaning fun, turn those socks into puppets with some permanent marker first.
  • Put some baking soda-infused toothpaste on an old toothbrush and you can get rid of rust stains on your tub.
  • Dryer sheets are great for dusting baseboards.
  • A paste of baking soda and warm water can remove crayon and pen from walls better than a sponge.
  • Permanent marker end up on your walls instead?. Break out that hairspray or toothpaste and toothbrush.
  • A paste of three-quarters of a cup of baking soda and one-quarter cup of bleach will clean grout. Use a rough brush to work it into the crevices and leave it on for 10-20 minutes. Reapply if needed, then rinse.
