Home Story; A Sellers Perspective
“We kept coming back to Concord Village because of the central location, ease of access, swimming pool, lack of maintenance, and overall cleanliness. Houses did not come up for sale very often, so we waited and watched. We bought our home within a very short period of time after it came on the market, because we had taken the time to study carefully in advance and knew how valuable the opportunity was. Quite simply, it was the best lot in the development and we knew it.
The three things we love best about the house are: sun, sun, and sun. The house is situated to perfectly capture the rising morning sun in the master bedroom. Every day, we were able to wake to the sun streaming in. In the warmer months, the light streams theatrically through the mature trees in the back and, in the colder months, provides warmth. In the afternoon and evening, we could languish on the front porch and watch the sunset in a fire of different colors across the Illinois sky. The home sits high up so it not blocked by other houses, as most ones in the subdivision are.
The roof was just replaced on the house, and the hot water heater and dishwasher were upgraded and replaced not too long ago. The refrigerator, washer, and dryer are literally brand new.
The basement has been a nice play to have exercise equipment, storage, and a ping pong table. Our kids loved playing in the old-school basement, especially because it stays cool in the summer months. The half-basement storage space proved to be really helpful, because you can store longer term items further back, and seasonal items up-front so they can be rotated.
When we first saw the house we wondered if having a smaller yard would be an issue, but quickly learned that the front porch was the place to be, and all the neighbors share the cul-de-sac as their common outdoor area. There is rarely a lack of children and activity right out front. The back yard is a nice place to lay outside or barbecue. Because the house is strategically placed in the subdivision, you can’t hear any traffic noises from the busier, adjoining streets.
The house is in the center of everything truly relevant in Lake Zurich. You can see the Fourth of July fireworks from the lake itself, walk to Costco, take a protected bike ride to fabulous library down the street, or visit any one of scores of stores, gyms, and restaurants in the area. The parades generally take place right next to us, making us feel like they come to us and not us to them. I can’t count the number of times we drove three minutes to park and watch the sun go down over Lake Zurich, along with the rest of the spectators. The swimming pool makes the place feel like a country club or a resort between Memorial Day and Labor Day. We never shoveled a sidewalk or cut a lawn when we lived there. Not once.”
